Devulcanization is an essential step in tire manufacturing. During the process, rubber is mixed with curing agents and heated to form a strong, durable material used in tires.
However, once rubber has been vulcanized, it is difficult to reuse because it cannot easily be reprocessed or remixed. This is where Tyromer’s Devulcanization Technology comes into play.
Tyromer’s patented devulcanization process is remarkably simple: rubber crumb is fed into an extruder and transformed into devulcanized rubber—without the addition of any chemicals or additives.
Using a supercritical CO₂-assisted thermo-mechanical extrusion process, we continuously and rapidly transform end-of-life tire rubber into a new, high-quality rubber material known as Tire-Derived Polymer (TDP).
Because TDP preserves the molecular structure of the original rubber, it can be used for its original applications, including new tire manufacturing, as well as for a wide range of higher-value rubber products.
